Pilates is a system of exercises using special apparatuses, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture. Pilates exercises develop a strong core, or center of the body. The core consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. It is mostly just using your own body as a weight or you could use weights to have a higher intensity workout. You could also go to a local location that does a Pilate classes with the machines. You can also do Pilates at home or outside on a mat. When you are doing Pilates there are no muscle groups that are over trained or under trained. By reading this article it helped me understand what Pilates is more about, and how much it helps your body with, strength, flexibility, and balance. It also helps loosen up your back, neck, leg and shoulders. By doing Pilates only few times a week, you are doing all the things I listed above as well as staying in shape and having fun with it.
